Mini-Ichigos and Pink Ribbons

Episodes 5 & 6 of Gurren Lagann aired last night on Sci-Fi, and yes, I do mean the censored episode 6.

wheee~~

wheee~~

Well firstly, Rossiu’s voice actor is Johnny Yong Bosch (Ichigo, BLEACH; Lelouch, Code Geass), and I think he sounds pretty odd and maybe a tad bit too grown-up – but maybe that’s just me.

But even stranger than Rossiu sounding like a mini-Ichigo is the censored episode 6.  I hadn’t actually seen it myself before since I’ve only seen the DVD version, and it really shocked me.  The uncensored episode 6 is pretty dirty, but I honestly didn’t think that they’d have to air such a fake-looking (yes, I said it.  Even if I hadn’t seen the DVD version it would be really obvious that it had been censored up) recap episode, especially when the show airs from 11 to 12 at night.

Although I must admit, I chuckled when Kamina could remember all the strange animals he and Yoko hunted but not Viral, but so many hilarious scenes were cut, one of which left no explanation for the girls’ sudden outfit change when they enter the Lagann.  But what really traumatized me the most was when they once blurred out Boota in mistaking him for Kamina’s manhood.  Poor, poor Boota.

Well, uh, I guess this was some sort of half-baked rant?  It was an okay episode, but I really wasn’t expecting it.  I guess I didn’t find it very funny because I knew, “Oh, that’s not right.  That’s not why you want to check on the girls >.>” But!  I noticed for the first time that Yoko’s skull pin changes expressions.  It’s very cute.  I want it.

I dont want that, though.

I don't want that, though.
