Yeah I know I’m late with these few titles, but I just got my hands on them and would like to share my unbiased opinions of them with you lovely readers.

vassalord 2:  Okay, remember how in my post about vassalord 1 I said that it wasn’t too shounen-ai-ish but certainly put up that sort of front?  Well, in volume 2 that front goes up much higher–Charley and Rayflo’s teasing doesn’t seem like a running gag anymore and really is just pure-out shounen-ai.  The story is still a tad tough to understand without going back a second time and reading it again, although a real plot does seem to be developing.  If you read volume 1, check this volume out and see if the series is going in the direction you hoped it would–if it did, good for you, now join me in my wait for volume 3; if not, never pick up any subsequent volume of this series ever again.

Princess-Princess 5:  The series draws itself to a close with the battle for student council president raging on between two men that all of the student body enjoy obsessing over.  And just as the two candidates tear the student body in two, they have also split the princesses, with Tohru and Shihoudani rooting for Akira and Mikoto on Mitaka’s side.  But Mitaka wants to play dirty and the princesses (excluding Mikoto, as always) want to play kinky, and the students are always in fights over who they support.  In all, if you liked the rest of the series then you need to get this volume; it’s basically the same formula from the rest of the series, and of course, if you like a series you’ll need to know how it ends.  What’s really to look forward to is if Princess-Princess+ ever gets released Stateside (I’m keeping my fingers crossed).

I’ve just picked up my copy of vassalord 1, and even though it’s an interesting read, but it’s not something I’d reccomend to a guy friend.

It’s about two men, Charley and Johnny, who are both vampires, but Charley is also a vampire hunter working for the Vatican.  Obviously, they’re gonna need to fight each other, but Charley also uses Johnny as a means of nourishment.  Sounds very yaoi-esque, right?  Well, it’s not, really.  Shounen-ai would be a much better term, and it’s rated 16+ for blood and partial nudity – never anything below the waist, unless it’s Johnny’s tight behind.

The story moves along rather quickly, and it’s also kinda hard for me to understand completeley sometimes.  Also, the action scenes seem kinda…fake sometimes, especially compared to more shounen manga.  But it’s not the worst shoujo action I’ve seen, and the art is pretty when it’s not chibified.

I’d like to read volume 2, which will be released November 1st by TOKYOPOP, but solely for the hot-vampire-munching-on-hot-vampire action.  But it’s certainly not yaoi, but fans of shounen-ai, vampire boys and bishounen would probably enjoy this a good deal.
